  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. pine nuts (or walnuts)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Wash the basil leaves thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit.
  • In a food processor, combine basil leaves, pine nuts, and minced garlic. Pulse them together until finely chopped.
  • With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until you achieve a smooth, glossy consistency.
  • Add grated Parmesan and lemon juice and pulse a few more times until fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the sauce into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to a week.
