Ingredients

Group: Ingredients
  • 12 ounces pasta, your favorite type (penne recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 ounces)
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large skillet

Method

  1. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water just before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant and lightly golden.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and slowly mix in the heavy cream, stirring until you achieve a gorgeous pink hue. Simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the pasta in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for the desired consistency.
  6. Divide the pasta among plates, garnishing with fresh basil leaves and a shower of grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy the comforting aroma and flavors!

Notes

Avoid overcooking the pasta to ensure it maintains its texture.
