Group: Ingredients
  • 1 ripe pomegranate
  • A large bowl of cold water

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Prepare your area by laying down parchment paper or newspaper on your cutting board to catch any juice splatters.
  2. Slice off the crown of the pomegranate to access the seeds easily.
  3. Lightly score the outer skin with four to six vertical cuts without cutting all the way through.
  4. Submerge the scored pomegranate in the bowl of cold water to minimize splatters.
  5. While the fruit is submerged, gently pull apart the sections with your fingers.
  6. Once all seeds are removed, lift out the pith and debris. Use a sieve to drain the seeds at the bottom.
  7. Rinse the seeds gently, then spread them on a towel to dry. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

Patience is key when seeding pomegranates. Taking your time results in a tidier kitchen and beautiful seeds.
