Ingredients

Group: Ingredients
  • 4 medium organic apples (Honeycrisp recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 Juice of 1 lemon
  • pinch of salt (optional)

Equipment

  • Mandoline slicer or sharp knife
  • Baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Large bowl

Method

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly, then thinly slice them into rounds about ⅛-inch thick.
  2. Toss the apple slices in a large bowl with the lemon juice to prevent browning and enhance flavor.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle over the apple slices and toss to coat evenly.
  4. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and lay apple slices in a single layer without overlapping.
  5. Bake in the oven at a low temperature for about 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
  6. Let the apple chips cool on racks to continue hardening after baking.

Notes

Experiment with different apple varieties and adjust the seasoning to your liking for a custom flavor profile.
