Warm and Hearty Turkey Chili

A comforting Turkey Chili filled with flavorful spices, ground turkey, and beans, perfect for chilly evenings and holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2-3 Tbsp. chili powder adjust for spice level
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup corn (fresh or frozen)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh cilantro for garnish

Equipment

  • Large pot or Dutch oven
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until it softens and turns translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground turkey. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned, about 6-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and diced bell pepper, cooking for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Sprinkle the chili powder and cumin over the mixture, stirring to coat evenly. Let them bloom for about a minute.
  5. Add the tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and corn. Stir to combine and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bring the chili to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasonings. Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh cilantro.

Notes

This chili tastes even better the next day. Feel free to adjust spices according to your preference.
