Ingredients

Group: Tofu and Marinade
  • 1 block firm Tofu, pressed and drained
  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame oil, plus more for frying
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet

Method

  1. Begin by slicing the block of firm tofu into even rectangles, about 1-inch thick.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Gently toss the tofu slices in the marinade.
  3. Dust each slice with cornstarch to create that extra crispy texture.
  4. Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Fry each side until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the tofu from the skillet and let it rest on a wire rack. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Pressing the tofu is essential for achieving a crispy texture. Avoid overcrowding the skillet to ensure even frying.
