Ingredients

Group: Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp. baking powder
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional, but recommended

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Spatula
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  3. Once melted, remove from heat and mix in the granulated sugar. Then add the eggs one by one, and finish with the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture and fold gently. Optionally, fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Allow brownies to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Allowing the brownies to cool before cutting will lead to a better texture and prevent crumbling.
