Chewy Homemade Flapjacks for Fall

Homemade flapjacks are chewy oat bars that are easy to prepare, perfect for snacking, and a great addition to festive gatherings.

  • 100 g unsalted butter
  • 100 g soft brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. golden syrup
  • 250 g rolled oats
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt
  • Optional: chocolate chips, dried fruits, or nuts for added texture

  • 8 inch baking dish
  • Parchment paper
  • Medium saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Wire rack

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line an 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter, soft brown sugar, and golden syrup over low heat, stirring until completely smooth.
  3. Fold the rolled oats, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt into the melted mixture until well combined.
  4. Spread the mixture into the prepared dish, pressing down firmly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into bars. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

These flapjacks freeze beautifully! Wrap individual portions and store in an airtight container in the freezer.
